Gaggleville Porch Goose

A customer favorite for decades, this exclusive garden goose gives every yard a touch of whimsy.

What is a porch goose?

A porch goose is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a plastic, goose-shaped yard decoration that perches in your garden or on your porch. He looks very cute as-is, but the best part is the variety of porch goose outfits you can buy around different seasons and themes. From a quirky Christmas tree to a buzzing bumblebee, there is a goose outfit for every occasion.

How We Tested It

KATIE BANDURSKI FOR TASTE OF HOME

I’ll admit: When the porch goose trend first hit my TikTok “For You Page,” I was sold. I love animals. And in seasonal outfits? Perfection.

Goose Statue

I’ve had my goose since May 2023. When it arrived, I was impressed by the substantial size. It stands about 2 feet high and 15 inches wide. I started by filling the base with sand. There’s a black stopper on the bottom that allows you to pour in weights. After many months of migrating around the yard (and even moving to a new house!), I’ve noticed no leaks.

If you live in an apartment or generally have less space, there’s also a baby goose statue that measures just 17 inches tall and has its own line of coordinating baby porch goose outfits.

Porch Goose Outfits

After a summer of standing “naked” in the garden, it was time to get my goose some clothes. The outfits are, by far, the best part. And there are so many clever options to choose from!

In spring, dress up your fowl friend as a butterfly or Easter egg. In summer, bust out the watermelon slice and Uncle Sam outfit. And in the fall? Your goose can dress incognito as a witch or a candy corn.

Last, but certainly not least, the Christmas season provides plenty of festive outfit opportunities. Your goose can welcome winter as a snowman or ugly Christmas sweater contestant. Don we now our gay apparel, indeed!

Rest assured that this is just a small sample of the outfits you can buy. There are also plenty of evergreen options for switching it up in between holidays. You can shop the entire Gaggleville collection at Miles Kimball, with select outfit options also available on Amazon.

I currently own five outfits—Santa, Thanksgiving turkey, Halloween jack o’lantern, summer strawberry and sunshine—with every intention of buying more. So far, I’m very impressed with the quality. Each piece is made of high-quality felt with beautiful colors and details. Most of the outfits also include a headpiece or hat for a final touch.

Keep in mind that while your porch goose is intended for outdoor use, the outfits should remain covered. They are not waterproof and will deteriorate if exposed to rain or snow.

Desk Goose

As the porch goose trend gathers steam, the Gaggleville brand has introduced some new friends to the flock. Most notably? Desk goose! This teeny-tiny version measures just 7 inches tall and looks just like its larger predecessor.

I received a desk goose as a Christmas present in December 2025 and can confirm he brings a pop of whimsy to my workspace. He’s available on his own or as part of a set with four seasonal outfits. In the set, you get scaled-down versions of the iconic raincoat, Uncle Sam, jack o’lantern and Santa ‘fits.

Pros

  • Quirky and retro-inspired porch decor
  • Brings joy to the entire neighborhood
  • Outfits for every holiday and occasion
  • Sturdy and weather-proof plastic exterior
  • Three different goose sizes: large, baby and desk

Cons

  • At $20-$30 a pop, outfits are on the pricey side
  • Outfits are not entirely weather-resistant

What Other Reviewers Had to Say

Porch Goose

I’m not the only one smitten with the lawn goose trend. Nearly 3,000 ratings and a 4.8-star average make this Amazon product a customer favorite.

“This goose cheers me up, with very little effort on my part,” says five-star reviewer Joan Harland. “I move it around to different rooms and different corners; when its beady eye catches mine unexpectedly, I can’t help but smile. And it requires no food, water, cleaning or walking. A most satisfactory pet.”

Verified purchaser Lynn B. explains how a porch goose makes a wonderful gift. “My friend had a goose and so many clothes for it. Her goose needed a partner. She loved it!”

“My mother used to have a concrete goose and after she passed the goose disappeared,” says Amazon customer NickiB. “I saw this goose on a crochet site and had to have it. She arrived just as pictured and extremely fast!”

Product Comparison: Gaggleville Porch Goose vs. Concrete Porch Goose

The Gaggleville goose is made of a durable plastic that, when filled with a weight like sand, holds up well to the elements. But if you want something even sturdier, you can opt for a concrete porch goose. These retro options are much heavier and, oftentimes, pricier than plastic versions.

One major con? You may struggle to find clothes that fit a concrete porch goose, whereas Gaggleville outfits are specifically designed to fit the plastic goose. (You can always make your own, though!)

Concrete porch geese are available from a variety of retailers, including Pottery Barn. You can also check local garden centers.

Gaggleville Porch Goose

No matter how you dress it, this silly porch goose will add some nostalgic joy to your outdoor decor.

Pick up a porch goose on Amazon or Miles Kimball. The large goose costs around $40, the baby goose is $30 and the desk goose is $20. Outfits range from $20-$30 each. You can also save some cash by splurging on a bundle that includes multiple outfits.

I suggest ordering ASAP as the goose (and his most popular outfits) frequently go out of stock. It’s a small investment that will bring you joy all year long.

FAQ

Porch Goose
KATIE BANDURSKI FOR TASTE OF HOME

Why are porch geese trending?

Now, if you’re thinking to yourself: Where have I seen this before? The answer is likely at Grandma’s house. Lawn geese are nothing new. They’ve been around since the 1980s and really hit their stride in the ’90s. And, just like butterfly clips and mom jeans, they’re regaining popularity on social media.

What do you fill a porch goose with?

Fresh out of the box, your porch goose is pretty light. If you plan to display it outside, fill the base with sand or pebbles to weigh it down. You don’t want your goose flying away!

Is there a baby goose?

Yes! The brand introduced a smaller friend to the flock in 2024. You can buy baby goose (and assorted outfits) from Miles Kimball.
